Wow what an unusual way to get it it installed! 
Anyway I suspect the fact that because fdisk doesn't properly reflect the type partition Windows is installed on that it may have something to do with VMware Fusion not recognizing it as a Boot Camp partition. In other words, I'm assuming you followed the directions in the link you included and formatted the volume NTFS during the install, right? Also, are you able to boot Windows natively?
